Alpha Epsilon Pi?

Hey Everyone,

This morning in the mail, I (along with probably every other incoming male freshman) got a letter of introduction from AEPi fraternity. It got me seriously thinking about signing up for rush. However, I've never heard of AEPi (or any other frat) before. Any information about them would be apreciated.

What school are you going to be attending? My advice would be to stop by the website for your university, and do a search for greek life. There you should hopefully find links to each chapter on campus with information on all of them.

AEPi was recently chartered at my school, College of Charleston. They are traditionally a Jewish fraternity, but you don't have to be Jewish to join. They're really open to whatever denomination you may be.

As far as fraternities in general go, most have no specific religious affiliation, but are built upon Christian ideals. I say definitely go through rush! If you hate, there's no law that says you have to accept a bid. But I have seen that a lot of people who go through rush not being sure if they really want to be greek end up really loving it. Best of luck!

Off the topic but...before my chapter became ZTA it was AEPi which started out as a literary society way back in the day...we always thinks it's cute that AEPi is a national Fraternity too. I know of a chapter in NY through friends who go to the school there and they love it.

Hi,

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll be going to UGA. The chapter's website wasn't much help (the member list included a guy I know who graduated 2 years ago)

Today I got another mass-mailed fraternity letter, this time from Chi Phi. Same deal, never heard of them, no website.

But what I'd really like to know is; how expensive is greek life? Niether letter mentioned anything about it, and since I wouldn't even be going to college without the HOPE scholarship, it matters.

Jason,

If you have $$$ questions you would probably be best off e-mailing or calling the UGA Greek Life office. They can give you a ballpark figure (some will be more, some will be less) and info on the housing part.

Jason, go to greekpages.com. You can check out chapters and Nationals there.

I know someone who went to UGa and is AEPi now...I think. Many kids from my HS end up messing up in school (despite how wealthy/smart they are) and just live in the town that their school's in. So, I know a lot of people who live in Gainesville/Auburn/Athens/fill-in-the-blank who ended up flunking out and are just townies now.

The AEPi chapter at my school is pretty well-respected, as far as within the Greek community. They're known as the stereotypical "nice Jewish boys", but they are really nice. They throw one of the best parties of the year, and always have large, committed, pledge classes. At my school, it is predominantly Jewish, and I would dare say that it's the same at other universities.

Jason, if you'd like I will talk to you over email about greek life - and more specifically Alpha Epsilon Pi. I can also have a brother from UGA contact you if you'd like.
