Greek Week
So in my mind, only another greek would understand how terrible this is:
So greek week is coming up- and I am a darn good potato sack racer for my sorority, I am the 'team captain' this year... (basically I was the only one who did it last year... and I have a strategy!) Well a week and a half ago, I have this sharp pain in my foot... I deal with it all week til break 1- cos I didnt have time to get it looked at... papers cant be turned in late!!! 2- I wanted to go my my doctor, cos I needed to get my knees looked at anyway (I have a joint problem) So I get home, it still hurts... and I go to the docs... he thinks its a bone bruise or a stress fracture. So I go get x-rays (meanwhile, we dont have insurance, so its costing us alot!) He looks at them today and is unable to say weather or not it is broken, and needs a bone scan to make sure... we cant afford that... so he wants me to wear a boot to make sure the bones dont move... til APRIL when we get our insurance back. So basically IM SCREWED for everything! Cos in April, he may tell me I need a cast! Ugh!!! Why do bones break at bad times? This is all cos about a month ago I said "Ive never broken a bone!" <3Alison |
Allison,
Don't feel too bad. I am in a similar situation. I went to have "minor" knee surgery over winter break, as in quick 45 minute surgery and was supposed to be walking in two days, and back in shape for the national dance competition in Florida in plenty of time!!! HA! Surgery ended up taking 4 and a half hours. They had to totally reconstruct my knee. That was ten weeks ago, I still have another month to go, and I now have to choreograph our Greek Sing routine on crutches. Trust me, I feel you pain. -Lil Snakey K |
Aw, I'm sorry...that's really crummy. But maybe your doctor will call you out of the blue and say he and some lab technicians were looking at the x-rays and it's really OK. :D No, really, it could happen...
With me, instead of getting injured before a big event (oh, watch me jinx it), I always get sick. It's happened loads of times, but I think the worst was in 5th grade when I got really ill and had to miss trick-or-treating, which meant that I couldn't wear the beautiful princess costume my mom had just finished making. :( So maybe it's no big deal now, but at the time it was as though lightning had struck. And when my sister was in college, she tore her knee up at cheerleading practice and had to have messy surgery and stay on crutches for months. She was really hard-core into cheering, so she hated it. She could probably sympathize with you better than I can! ;) |
