I'm not sure if it is worth the $$ anymore though, I heard that the last edition had a lot taken out compared to the older ones.

If you're looking for a used copy of an older version, you can go to www.addall.com, and go to "Find Used Books". That way, you can choose the price/condition. I found hundreds of copies of AXO's history, all for much less than I would have paid with eBay.

Also, the most recent edition is from 1991. And a lot of info in it is from the previous edition (circa 1978 or so). So it's not super up-to-date. Most libraries have at least one edition if you're looking for something specific.

There is a great web site for finding old/out of print/rare books & I can't for the life of me remember it. I'll do some surfing and see what I can come up with.

Yes! I wonder if that is a new edition or a republishing of the last? http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/confused.gif I'm pretty sure that no one from Baird's has recently contacted our fraternity's HQ regarding info (I would know this since I'm part of HQ). I think I'll have to hit the library this week and see if I can find it.

Hey queequek! Baird's Manual of American College Fraternities is a giant reference book. In includes information on every national GLO in America, even those that are no longer in existence. And from all conferences (i.e. NPC, IFC, NPHC, etc.) I don't recall if there are any locals listed in it or not. It has pictures of the crest, history and general info on all of them. It's been around for a long time and gets updated every 10-15 years or so. I would venture to say it's the most comprehensive (and positive) resource for GLOs in America.

It also has general history of the establishment of the greek system. I haven't read through all of it, but it's interesting.

Most libraries have an edition of it that you can browse... you will learn a lot!

When are they coming out with the next edition?

To my knowledge, the last one out is still 1991.

AlphaGam1019 12-31-2001 12:24 AM

oh and by the way  - even though above has a 2001 edition listed, it doesn't exist. :p

BrianMUDU 12-31-2001 02:12 AM

Whoa, blast from the past. I remember asking that question... never did do anything about it though.
