QUESTION

So, I'm currently a Delta Zeta and am looking to transfer schools. I've seen on a few posts on this website that dz may be colonizing at university of Arkansas, also the president of my chapter has mentioned it. Can someone tell me if this is true and how likely it is? I would like to continue my college career a the UofA, but only if Delta Zeta were to colonize. HELP!

What year are you in school? I don't think that is a definite by any means and even if it was, they would probably take a year from the time they were selected to do PR and get the campus excited about the new colony. A colony is a HUGE undertaking at Arkansas.

My understanding is that neither Delta Zeta nor the other group chosen to present were selected for expansion at Arkansas, so there is no colony happening. Someone closer to the school than I can correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm about to start my sophomore year, and I don't even know if it's possible to transfer into another chapter lol. I checked UofA's Growth of NPC Sororities Presentation (I'm taking this straight from there) it said: "In consultation with NPC and our two newest organizations, we will seek extension to add three more organizations by Fall 2016." But I guess that doesn't have to count for Delta Zeta if they didn't get chosen, and if it takes a year I may just be out of luck. Thank yall for all the help I really appreciate it!!

As of now there are no new chapters being considered. This is a shame because there were 1600 girls going through recruitment this week and lots of broken hearts. We desperately need new chapters in order to fill the demand of so many girls.

***sigh*** that's NOT how it works.

If there were "broken hearts" in recruitment, it's because they either dropped out, or were released by the chapters due to grades or other factors. It's not because there were "so many girls." Every sorority can take quota in formal rush and quota is the number of women at pref divided by number of sororities. This applies whether there are 40 PNMs or 4000.

If women dropped out because they feel the chapters are too large, that's their prerogative, but again, women are not cut from Rush simply because there are "so many. "

Rats.. I just hate the predicament that I'm in. I LOVE being in a sorority and I LOVE delta zeta, but I want to go to Fayetteville SO badly, and sadly it looks like if I transfer I won't be able to be in a sorority. Sorry yall have to see all of my complaining when you don't even know me! Seriously though thank you guys for responding and letting me know!:)

shelly96, you will be in a sorority your entire life, if you choose. You simply won't be an active member should you transfer to a school without a Delta Zeta chapter.

Looks like we need a refresher course on RFM - it's that time of year.

Yes, but I've only been an active member for 1 semester.

Even if DZ was there, there would be the chance that you wouldn't like them or they wouldn't like you...or that the dues would be more than you could afford...or a zillion other factors.

I understand it sucks and believe me I sympathize. But you have to look at what's best for your academics first.

I'm sorry they don't have an active chapter, but NWA does have a DZ alum group, so you can stay connected and involved if you want. It's different from being part of an active chapter, but that phase of membership lasts 4 years at best. Good luck!
