Phi Sig Sweethearts!!

Iota Gamma chapter is just starting the selection process for the 2002-2003 Phi Sig Sweetheart. This is the first time we are doing this, and we are just figuring things out. Let me break down the process that we have chosen for this year... We invited all of the fraternities on campus (seven of them total) to select a representative for their fraternity. These representatives will run for the Phi Sig Sweetheart. We actually got a big reponse from it... All of the fraternities except for one got back to us! And of those, all of the representatives, with the exception of one, are the organization presidents. We are going to have a money drive... With each nominee having a jar to fill. Whoever at the end of the week has the most money, wins. We will announce the Sweetheart at our Sapphire Ball, on March 22nd. (Which is our first ball, too!!!) Anyways, if you have any ideas on what else we can do.... Or any helpful suggestions.... I'd love to hear them!

I've never heard of sweetheart being decided that way. It's quite interesting and sounds like a great way to raise money. Our chapter usually just votes on it, often it is a boyfrind that has helped us out, but it's been a sister's mothers and other friends or relatives too. Congrats on your first Sapphire ball. Ours is the week before yours, hope you have a wonderful time.

Our sweetheart doesent have to be in a fraternity, just a Clarion student. Most of the time theyre a boyfriend, but alot of the people nominated are just good friends with the sorority. We vote as a chapter on the sweetheart because it is a decision that the whole chapter should agree on! :) Although your way sounds cool cos youre getting a fundraiser out of it!!! :)

Iota Gamma Rocks!

I really enjoyed your ideas about picking a sweetheart 'cause we here at the Epsilon Epsilon Chapter have never had one at least while I've been in it. Great way to make money too!!! You guys rocked at Division (5) Conference, if ya know what I mean

Uh Oh....

Lookie here!!! I was so surprised to get your message. I just want to say thanks for letting us tag along, after D.C. That was fun. Rosio wants to know how Roger is doing?? :P We're still laughing at Amen's ass for the whole glass door scene!!! haha! (I don't know if you were still there...) Anyways, keep in touch... Maybe we'll be able to plan a mini road trip up there again! Talk with you later...

Sweetheart Ceremonies/Events or Pins?

Hey girls, I was wondering if anyone in there chapter's use some sort of Sweetheart pins...or even have sweethearts? Our chapter announces ours at the Sapphire Ball in April, but I want to get a head start on ideas. If your chapter does some sort of lil ceremony for the person please let me know. And even if you don't- any ideas are appreciated!! Thanks:)

We do House Sweetheart every semester, and after he is voted on our house mom bakes this huge cookie and we go to his frat house, apartment, where ever and sing the sweetheart song and give him a paddle that is signed by all the sisters. Its really cute. We once surprised one of our sweethearts at the train station when he was coming back into town... we all sang to him there and everyone else at the station cheered along (yes, it looked like a scene from a movie).

During our big events like Barndance, Crush Party, and Formal we all take a group picture with the house sweetheart and then we give him a copy of the picture.

The paddle though has always been appreciated by the guys. Have fun!

We also announce our sweetheart at the sapphire ball in March. But as i've written elsewhere, our sweetheart can be anyone whose done something special for the chapter. Last year it was a tie between the advisor's son(for helping with fundraising and her sister and brother-in-law (for letting us use their house). In the past it has been boyfriends, but it's also been mothers, etc. you get the idea. Usually we get them a recognition pin. we've never had a special ceremony, but isn't the new Celebration ceremony open? you could use that one....

Fraternity Sweetheart Time

I know that some of the girls around here are nervous about this time of the Greek year. We have 3 girls in our sorority that are sweetheart hopefuls for PIKE and TKE. Our sorority usually always gets them every year. . .but we missed it one year with TKE and 2 years for PIKE. But we're hopeful that this year might be our year.

However, don't some girls feel cheated when girlfriends who do nothing but sit around and look cute get nominated over the ones who slave over cleaning their office or decorating or doing community service for them.

No one on our campus does sweethearts (except we did last year...)! But none of the fraternities do. I know that some of them aren't allowed to... For those that can, they don't.

Anyways, I would like to wish the sisters that are candidates, good luck!

Yes! I know that feeling...sweethearts aren't a big thing on our campus either, but i know one year, when i was dating a DX, i worked way harder than the gf who just sat around...I mean me and ONE guy cleaned up their house after their Halloween bash that year and i got no recognition....i also stick up for them since they are the stereo-typical "frat" , i try to point out their good points...
anyway, sweetheart was never a serious thing, it's just we wanted a phi sig to get it again...
Last year however, my best friend's friend was sigma chi's sweetheart and she earned it...she was not anyone's gf, so the girls that were seemed a bit annoyed...

Phi Sig SweetHeart

Okies....Do you guys do Phi Sig Sweethearts. One of our sisters got engaged over the summer and I wanted to do something for them but I dont know what to do. One of my alumi said that had a cemeny but she didnt remember it. I was wondering what other chapters do for that. And if you have just a Phi Sig Sweetheart that is for the whole chapter. Like a guy that does alot for your chapter and what do you do for that?

Email me at bratgirl_69_98@yahoo.com

Thanks in advance.

SapphireSphinx9 08-12-2004 11:33 AM

bratmary,

i merged all the sweetheart threads together, maybe there's information in previous threads that have answers for you...

if not, i'm sure there are sisters that would be glad to help you with the ceremony. (i would, but we don't have a specific ceremony just for sweethearts)

good luck!

Hey Bratmary,

I know for sisters who get engaged many chapters do candle passings. My chapter doens't though so I can't tell ya the details. But of course, that wouldn't include him much.

and on another note:
sweethearts are great! Last weekend my phi sig sister and I went boating with her boyfriend and his friends. Neither of us were informed that not only were we staying the night but late into the next day. So in the morning we managed to get a ride in a dinghy to a marina, but not the one we started off from so we had no car. Stranded in town I called a phi sig sister - she was at work but her husband was home with their little baby. He was a former sweetheart. Anyway, he came to our rescue and picked us up and drove us to another town where the car was parked.

So, not only can you rely on your sisters, but their husbands too!
