Hey.
I talked to some girls from there. According to them it was a chapter vote to close. They say it was too stressful dealing with trying to repair quota damage and insufficient funds. Chapel Hill's greek system is declining in numbers...Delta Zeta and Phi Mu had the lowest numbers. Delta Zeta has chosen to remain for now. There was also a problem with Panhellenic not being fair to everyone. They decided it would be better to close and try to recolonize in two years. That leave Chapel Hill with 10 sororities: Alpha Chi Omega, Alpha Delta Pi, Chi Omega,Kappa Delta, Kappa Kappa Gamma, Delta Delta Delta, Delta Zeta, Pi Beta Phi, Zeta Tau Alpha and Sigma Sigma Sigma. Kappa Alpha Theta is apparently looking to "get back on" but the girls told me that Panhellenic would not allow it since the numbers are declining(no need for another sorority). But the most important thing, is that the girls of Gamma Lambda are still Phi Mus:)
