This is another one of my stories, and let me assure you that every ounce of it is true. I even have pictures to prove it, I will post when developed...........

I have a floor model, wooden, 1983 zenith TV in my living room. Do yall remember them? Anyway in a heated game of Tiger Woods 2001 last night, ol woodie just shut off for no reason. Being the technical genius that I am, I assumed that the tube had gone bad, thus rendering the TV useless. Upon coming to this realization, and being blown out of my mind on bourbon, I quickly lept (hahaha, lept) from my chair and went down into the garage to retrieve my 029 Stihl 18inch farmboss chainsaw. Awww yes, much to the delight of my comrades who upon seeing the saw in my hands began to chant things like "you dont have a hair on your ass to cut that TV in half" yadda yadda. 2 pulls and the saw roared to life. One cut down the side of the TV and everyone is laughing their ass off, but alas, I cant get to the other side of the TV to finish the job, as it is against the wall and now my whole place is filled with 2 stroke smoke and the carpet is covered in sawdust. My roomate talked me into putting the saw up and going to bed, assuring me I had done a fine job.

Got up this mornin, stumbled downstairs, forgetting that I had attempted to cut my TV in half with a chainsaw the previous night, and out of habit attempted to turn on the TV so I could watch the weather channel before I got in the shower. Guess what? The friggin TV came right on and ran like a champ. Just my damn luck, but really I think the TV is in slight denial, its time is limited. Its really just a matter of time now before I get plowed again and the TV and I go another couple rounds. I'll keep everyone posted and try to post the pics when I get the camera developed, if I dont wind up chopping it up too.

That sucks dude. Hahaha chain saw. Yeah, I remember those things. my parents had one when i was growing up. They had it either when they were first married or my dad had it from college. But anyway, its older than I am. Like a '79 or '80 model. My dad finally got rid of it at the end of my senior year in HS. He gave it to a friend of his, I think it might still work.

Those televisions could last a long time unless you use a chain saw on them.:eek:

Yeah its been a great TV. Ive had it since I came to college. Bought it for 50 dollars. You cant beat that.

My 1981 tv just went to electronic heaven last year. I didn't use a chainsaw on it though

hahah that is so funnt, I can totally see my friend doing that he is such a power tool junkie.... sorry bout the tv though that is never fun !!

Don't feel too bad. If the TV did it once, it will happen again and then more frequently. There's some kind of component inside that will break down as the TV gets hot. And, knowing our old friend Mr. Murphy and his law, it will probably be an expensive one.

One word of caution. If you decide to take that saw to it again, unplug the TV set first. There's a lot of high power inside, and I assume you would rather kill the TV than yourself.

Actually, as I think of it, even if the set is unplugged, there is still a lot of high voltage sitting around in components like capacitors that hold their charge. Maybe you should just put it outside and let it freeze to death or something.

I thought it was only a texas frat-boy thing. You know the natural attraction that develops between alcohol and power tools. Been there MANY times myself. Maybe its a southern thing.

My favorite drunk sport is auto repair. Did my alternator the other day PLOWED. Dont have the balls to do a clutch toasted tho.

We gotta drink together sometime.

Delt, first priority was to unplug the TV. I already had that covered. The casing of my saw is plastic and the handle is covered in rubber, so if I had been to beligerant I would assume that I was insulated.

Life, I dont turn a wrench unless there is Miller close by. I do all the repairs for my friends on their cars, and I never charge any money, only beer. I did a fuel pump on my friends truck yesterday for 1 case. Not bad cause most of these kids dont have the hundreds of dollars that they try to rape you out of at a auto shop. Speaking of altenators, Ive replaced many, and its hell getting that serpentine belt back on if youve had half a case.

Damn. While I was born and raised in Amarillo, I now live downstate...WAY downstate. About 8 hours downstate. (BTW, please dont see Amarillo as representative of Texas. Its not. Its just the leftovers that Oklahoma didnt want. How sad is that? I would be more than thrilled to offer your brood shelter and booze, but I am afraid you'd have to be on I-10, not I-40. Anytime you are in South Texas tho, you look me up. I have a suspicion that youd love Acuna, Mexico. Just a short 2 hours away, and like something outta a Jimmy Buffet song. Its where all the red-necks go to rip it up.

Took awhile for me to respond to that. I have been to Acuna many times. When I was engineering for Honeywell, we had a facility down there, and a warehouse across the river in Del Rio Texas. I sent more damn aluminum rejection parts to Acuna then anyone in the history of manufacturing. Well it just seemed that way cause they had 400 inspectors at the door looking for any little piece of insignicant crap to reject my parts for cause they wanted my aluminum line. And nearly all of the time, my parts were good. Bad sittuation. Next time your in Acuna, go to the Honeywell facility, ask for a quality engineer named Jorge Pena, and you tell him that Bill from Frankfort said to kiss his ass. He will know what you mean.

Depending on how far off course we get and how outta hand the posse is, we may wind up in Mexico anyway. I have four of the baddest hombres this side of the Mississippi coming with me.

HAHAHA. How in the hell did I know you were an Acuna kind of kid? I could just tell. As you know, its where all us red-necks who like to drink go, to get away from it all. Whats cool is that theplace hasnt changed in 100 years. Closes to the old fronteer town thats not all touristy. Dig the border towns tho. Kinda dangerous, and I dig the rush. Acuna and Nuevo Laredo are my places. (Never been to Juarez). Matamoros is a bit too dangerous for me. Its not a good week if there isnt at least three or four murders there. Not really wanting any part of that. (interesting side note about Matamoros - where everyone goes for spring break if you are at South Padre Island - we were there a few years ago and with a brother's blood brother who happens to be a student at UT, and a bit of a "dealer" if you catch my implication. Anyway, we were treated like royalty everywhere we went. Just lucky we all didnt end up will bullets in our skulls. )

I do dig the border tho. Such a rush. Also gotta love that Liquor is about Half oif what it costs in the states. A litre of Cuervo Gold only runs about $11.00 US over there. :D

But ya'll damn well better swing through this part of the state. I see a bunch of innertubes, severl ice chests full of beer and the Guadalupe river in your future.
