What make a good leader in the greek community?

Wow, I am surprised nobody has dropped a post on this one.
I think a good leader can prevail in any community or any situation rather. I also don't think a good leader vary's by community , activity or group.
Someone made a thread earlier(Sorry all and to the poster I don't remeber who it was) about leadership, so you might want to check that out.
But anyway I think a good leader is someone who can take things instride, can work well with others, gets the job done, doesn't break under pressure. so one who is a motivator and can give credit when it is due. Well thats what I think makes a good leader, but i think that other thread summs it up better..

To the both of you, Social and Service Organizations, it makes no difference, we are Greek Organizations Letter wise! I am a proud APO and a LXA!

I really get tired of this crap of who is who! Yes there is a difference in what we do even though is somewat the same! As an APO, I pushed a wheel chair bound person around to class, while as a LXA I have participated in the North American Food Drive, and our charity fund raisers, one being Ron Mc. house! You as an APO are not the same as a Greek Social Org, so do not pretend to be!
As one of my Alums said, " I probably have suits in the closet older than you!
APO or any other Service Greek Org. is on a different level of life and I am damn proud to be a member! I am also a Proud member of LXA!
I may be taking it out on this shot but some of the things I have seen on this site is DUM, DAM, DAM DUM!!!!

Oh oh, we don't have any people in our chapter like that, including our president and other officers. Where can we get help for leadership skills?

Hello my bother! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif I hope your thread wasn't directed to me. If so, I know that APO is a little different from social GLO's. APO has a major emphasis on service and a minor emphasis fellowship, while social GLO's it is vice versa. We (APO) more diverse (co-ed, multicultural, has social greeks, has non-social greeks, etc.) opposed to many social GLO's. It was the difference that turned me on. I never pretended that APO was a social GLO, but I do believe that we have similar issues at times.

Umm ok, heres my two cents, not to rain on anyones parade or anything, what does any of this have to do with the orginal question. No one is breaking it down into what org does what or who is better yada yada, all the question is , is what makes a good leader in the"GREEK COMMUNITY".
Secondly what I said in my post, is things I think makes a good leader. Also I stated in my post that a it doesn't matter what type of org you are in or what club or anything you are involved in a Leader is a Leader!

SH80,

Did you ever have your international HQ have an alum come in to do leadership workshops or such? Or even your greek advisor on your campus? There are ways to gain leadership, with the right training. In our organization, we get this through leadership consultants, alumnae volunteer workshops for actives, and for sure, convention.

Basically, we had no one, but we still did our thing with a wheelchair bount member! we also di some other things but as far as the GLO'S as I know from this site, were were non existant! I do not feel that this is wrong as we were on a differnt level of things than they were! I also ran with a lot of the GLOS! Also pledged under the table with the smallest, Do not even if they exist as a Nat. i loved every moment that I was active in APO! I will never forget some of the experiences! I hope it helped shape me as a better person!
