What do we do?
I have a question...last night I was talking to one of my Sigma Kappa friends, and she told me that one of their sisters in St. Louis had just passed away, so they dress up and where their badge inverted for a week. I thought it was a nice gesture...do we do anything like that when one of our sisters passes away?

Inverted? No offense to the Sigma Kappas, but I think that's disrespectful to their badge. For instance, you only see the American flag upside down if someone is in extreme distress during times of war.
I would rather see a black ribbon behind the badge. I've seen that pretty often. To me, that expresses your grief but isn't turning the badge upside down. |
When I was in college, one of our Founders died. DPhiE founded in 1917, so she was in her nineties. When we learned of this, we wore black ribbons behind our pins.

My chapter of Alpha Gamma Delta wore a black ribbon under our badges.

There is a Memorial Service that a Chapter will hold when an AGD passes away. Check with the Ritual Coordinator.
