Pref night dress

What do you all think of this dress for pref night? I'm worried it might be too casual/edgy. Also it would be longer on my body type. It's UC Berkeley rush, though, which should be relatively casual. If anyone has other suggestions for pref night outfits I would also appreciate it. Thanks! :)

My phone was loading the picture from top to bottom, and I liked it until I saw the hemline...I think it's too "clubby" with that ^. If you're worried about it now, you won't feel comfortable, because you'll be worried at pref. I also think the sleeves are a more casual look than you'll want for pref.

^ Agreed. IMO, a pref dress should at least be below the knee. I love the colors, though.

I would say the hemline should be at least to the knee...not necessarily below it - but much further south than this one for sure!

At least fingertip length. I don't know about knee length. Try to peruse social media to get an idea of what length is normal at Cal. I know shorter dresses are pretty normal these days.

Now that I'm looking at it in higher resolution on my computer, I noticed that there's a face on the front...a bald-headed man with glasses, with the head right at her midriff, then there is the white shirt with a dark necktie below it. Is anyone else seeing this, or am I just having a Rorschach test moment?

aephi alum 07-16-2015 11:00 PM

Now that you mention it, I do see a creepy guy ... but I'm thinking that you're having a Rorschach test moment and I'm feeling the power of suggestion.

Actually, located just over her "ahem" it appears to me to be a Las Vegas Showgirl in full regalia....

LOL, I see more of this than the other suggestions. :D

The hemline is WAY too provocative. Also, as shown by the responses on this thread, it's a wearable Rorschach test.

FSUZeta 07-17-2015 08:04 AM

Way too short, way too "clubby", and way too casual. And the designs on the dress are creepy in a , as 33 said, a Rorschach test way.

I agree with everyone else that this looks like a clubbing dress. As a result, it wouldn't be a good one for pref.

You don't need something that goes to the knee, but you should get something that is at least fingertip length. You're looking for something that you could wear to dinner at a nice restaurant with your grandmother and not feel out of place. You don't want something that is too revealing or too blinged out.

It looks like an alien to me...

Might I suggest purchasing something in person rather than online? I feel like it would relieve a lot of the stress about the situation.

Totally agree with this, sometimes trying on a dress before you buy it makes the whole process stress free. Plus, you can bring friends along and get real time opinions.
