Knowing Alumni
Hey Girls,
I was just curious about something. Recruitment for my school is in the spring, but this question just popped in my head and I didn't know the answer so, here goes. Last year, when I rushed and didn't get in, no recs were required. However, that may change this year because we are expanding in terms of Greek Life. If for some reason it doesn't change, do you guys think it still counts to know alumni even if recs are not needed? |
It certainly can't hurt, but again the groups are not under obligation to take you even with a rec. Membership selection is specific to the chapter and unfortunately we can't say here what the selection criteria is.

Do local sororities even take recs? I know very little about recs in the form of local organizations. I would check with a current or past sister about that to see if their organizations even offer rec forms. If not, see if the alumnae can write a letter on your behalf. Good luck.

Every local is probably different in terms of the way they consider things like recs. However, some locals may not even HAVE a formal rec form. So keep that in mind.
Even if there is not a rec letter/form/formalized process to recommend a PNM, know that there are probably some locals in which recent alumnae are heavily involved in recruitment. In those types of orgs, knowing alumnae matters. Seeing as you have been going to this school for awhile, you should be familiar with the orgs at your school and if (for example) one of them prefers PNMs who know a lot of alumnae. |
