Colonizing a new fraternity
Hey, what's up everyone? I'm a junior, just transferred back to my home school in home hometown from my state University (which is obviously much bigger). I pledged Kappa Sigma at my former school and now I have an interest group and alumni assistance in rechartering KSig at my hometown school. Everything has been handled and we are set to start this fall, myself being the Grand Master. I was just wondering, besides mixers and mountain weekend, what are some good things we can do to have fun and also some things we can do to make a good imprint? Thanks!

Hi there. As a founding member of my chapter, been there/done that. If you have active alumni, cultivate that alumni base, you don't have to reinvent the wheel. These are questions you should be addressing to them because every campus is extremely different.

I guess my first question would be is Kappa Sigma interested and second is the school interested in expanding the local greek system.
If the answer is yest to both questions, then you may never a very good chance!! Like Kevin, I started a group, but it was different, I started a local with no backing from a national or the school. We had competition from a group started by DSPhi. We won the contest and withinf the school year LXA contacted us and were colonized. Of course we had some backing that we were not aware of. It sounds like you have a very good chance of getting there. All the best of luck!! |
