random question
Is there a Delta Zeta chapter of Delta Zeta? A Kappa Delta chapter of Kappa Delta? A Kappa Sig chapter of Kappa Sig? etc. I tried to look this up on national webpages but they all have that "search by state" feature that is very time consuming! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif So, does anyone know?
Yes I know this is a really weird question. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif |
AGD has an Alpha Gamma chapter, that is the closest I think we can come to. We do not have an epsilon pi chapter, though.

The Tau Kappa Chapter of TKE is located at VCU, I think it's going to be quite a while before we get to a TKE-TKE though. One day though...

I always thought it was interesting that Alpha Phi Alpha has their Delta Upsilon chapter here at Miami down the street from our chapter (which is Delta Upsilon). That's the closest I can come up with something similar to what you're asking about as well http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

Alpha Phi intentionally named their chapters so it skips from Omega straight to Beta Alpha just so there would never be an Alpha Phi chapter.

Lambda Chi zeta (chapter) of Lambda Chi Alpha

This is actually not a silly question. The Dekes at my school are the Alpha Phi chapter and we have Alpha Phi at my school so it was always confusing when you'd see dekes walking around with alpha phi written on the back of their hats. Ever since then I've been wondering if Fraternities and Sororities have Chapter letters that are the same as their Greek letters. I'm glad you asked!!! |
I guess Pi Phi just makes it easier on everybody. They use the state and then a greek letter based on how many chapters are already in the state. So the first Alabama chapter whas Alabama Alpha, the second was Alabama Beta, the third Alabama Gamma (? i think. Help me out carnation.) So no there will never be a Pi Phi chapter of Pi Phi.

You got it, Wine&Blue, it's Alabama Gamma!
|
Alpha Phi Omega had considered it, even though we haven't gotten there yet. There will *not* be an Alpha Phi Omega chapter of Alpha Phi Omega when we get there. (We are up to Alpha Epsilon Nu)

I never knew Alpha Phi went straight to Beta. I can't believe I didn't know that - thanks for filling me in, APhi!!

There is a reason that zeta is at the end of most chapters in Lambda Chi Alpha. You'll never find a chapter that doesnt end in zeta unless its a colony.

LXA list is from when the Colony is Chartered according to the Greek Alphabet.
We are the Lambda Chi Chapter of LXA. Zeta is used in place of chapter as most orgs. do I hope this lets you know how we work and gives you a little better understanding. And yes there can be a chapter designation the same as of another F/S on campus. While it does not happen often you have seen there are some cases of it happening! ------------------ Tom Earp LX Z#1 Pittsburg State U. (Kansas) |
Yeah, it's weird having a chapter designation the same as our fraternity like I mentioned earlier. You'll be flipping through the student newspaper and see an article on "...Delta Upsilon... outstanding chapter award..." and be like, huh when did this happen?! But then you realize it says "Delta Upsilon Chapter of..."

Well I just checked Theta Chi, cause their first letter is fairly near the start of the alphabet. They have all the chartered chapters listed on their site and go from Theta Phi to Theta Psi. So apparently for them the answer to this question is no.
