Founding a Sorority

Hi,
I'm attending classes online. My school doesn't seem to offer any online or local sororities. They have online online communities, clubs, and groups.

Are you able to start a sorority without going through your school?

Instead of starting something new, why not look at something that is already out there that comes with tradition and heritage? Beta Sigma Phi has online chapters. It's non-academic but I believe (and someone correct me if I am wrong!) that there are some school based chapters.
