Removing Recruitment Counselors from pictures
Hi all,
So I'm in a local sorority but at my school we are represented on Panhellenic Council. This year two of my sisters sit on the Panhellenic E-board, and will be recruitment counselors for Panhellenic Recruitment. As a local organization, we rush separately and have never gone through the process of disassociation of any of our sisters. For this semester, I am recruitment chair for my our sorority. So what I am wondering is how most organizations go about removing the disassociated sisters from pictures. For example, in composite photos, in powerpoints, in scrapbooks, on our website, etc? I feel like its awkward just covering their face but I'm assuming that's the only way. Also how should I explain this to PNMs? |
We use arrow cutouts to block disassociated sisters during recruitment, since an arrow is one of our symbols. Generally, women going through recruitment have seen other houses blocking out faces or have had it explained by Panhellenic. If that doesn't happen in your school (or doesn't happen in your separate recruitment process), you could always explain that some women in your chapter are serving in leadership positions or as recruitment counselors, and by the rules, you must cover them.

^ What she said. We put lions or a pot of violets over the pictures of Rho Chis.

Ditto what everyone said. I also don't know if you guys use social media like facebook and instagram, but we were explained for facebook that albums can go private.

Yes, covering the pictures - creatively or not - is pretty standard across the country.

If you don't want it to look weird, you should use cutouts of Rick Astley's face.

Thanks for the advice everyone! I think i'll just use our mascot to cover their faces, and explain that they are representing panhellenic.

That works. We usually taped little construction-paper hearts over our rho chis' faces. You can also do something similar with digital images - it just takes a little photoshopping.
Also, once rho chis had been selected, whenever we had a group event like a formal, we always took one or two pictures with all the sisters except the rho chis. |
