Level 4.2 earthquake in West Michigan today

No, this isn't a spam thread!

Did any of the other Michiganders (and reluctant Michiganders) feel it? It occurred at 12:23. I was watching the draft and felt my chair start to vibrate intensively. I thought that maybe some type of utility work was going on, or that a huge truck was rumbling past (you know, on our bad roads), but I realized I wasn't hearing anything. The news is reporting that this is the strongest earthquake in west Michigan in several decades, and they said it could be felt in Chicago and Detroit.

Phrozen can add this to his list of things to hate about Michigan. ;)

We're getting pretty used to this in Oklahoma.

Didn't feel a thing.

I felt it sitting in the dining hall. A friend and I were the only ones who noticed. It was a slight rumble, akin to the subway running underground, or vibrations you'd feel from construction outside.

I didn't feel it. My son and I were at a restaurant in Detroit at the time. I looked at my Facebook and saw all these posts about it from people all over the Detroit area and even Toledo. I'm kind of sad I didn't feel it. I felt the last few we had over the past 10 or 20 years.

^^^ bwhahaha hilarious!

LOL! It really was the novelty of it...just not something you expect here.

There was an earthquake when I was at the Rose Bowl with my parents in 1979. It really wasn't bad, but the USC fans around us were talking about it being a bad place to be if there was a serious earthquake.

I was working in DC when the VA earthquake happened. I thought I had vertigo, because I swore the room tilted, and still didn't realize what had happened other than a co-worker and I were one of the last people from our office to evacuate the building. I then called my dad in VA who I had apparently waken up from a nap and he had no clue about the earthquake.

I hope Michigan sinks (of course after Ms. Phrozen and I have left).

Sciencewoman 05-05-2015 09:09 PM

What about her parents?
