Hi -

new to the world of all things Greek - daughter is interested in rush for fall 2015 at a big state university in the North West. Any tips, hints or advice would be welcome.

Welcome. I'm glad your daughter is at a state school in the Northwest, you'd be starting too late if the school was in the SEC. 1/2 :)
