formal coming up

I was invited back to my chapter's formal, happening in April. I am so excited, but I know hubby doesn't want to go and agreed because he knows it would mean a lot to me. (I haven't seen any of these people since at least 5 years ago and missed a reunion because it was our anniversary.)
Anyway, there is a rather large age difference between us, and he hasn't exactly had tons of fun around my friends that he has met. Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can make going to this formal better for him?
Thanks! :)

Introduce him to your sister's husbands or boyfriends. They might have things in common such as sports, careers, hobbies that they can talk about at the formal. If this is a weekend thing, it might be a good idea to have an event like a barbeque for the men so the sisters have some free time to catch up. When my sorority had our reunion, we left the men at home!

I plan to introduce him to the men I know, and I'm really hoping that works. I'm figuring the oldest people I'll know will be at least 10 years (most more than that) younger than my husband. It's a one night thing, and I am really looking forward to it, but I know it's going to be hard on him.
The girls from my chapter had a weekend reunion last month, but it started on my anniversary, and I had to miss it. I haven't been to a formal in over 3 years, and if they go back to the way it was done before, this may be the last chance I have to go.

Guys usually can find common ground quicker than girls...just give them a beer, sports and porn and they're good to go ;).

We had a reunion weekend last fall, and my boyfriend went because he knew I had really put a lot into planning it and it meant a lot to me. He was really the only guy there the whole weekend except for a sister's boyfriend who was probably 15 years younger than him. Believe it or not, they hit it off and amused each other quite well.

Yes it may not be his cup of tea, but one night will not kill him! He might be surprised at how much fun he has!! :D

p.s. however, DO NOT take significant others to homecoming unless they went to school there. If your homecoming is 1/4 as crazy as mine, that is a disaster waiting to happen.
