Swastikas Spray-Painted: AEPi House at Vanderbilt
 

Swastikas were spray-painted inside the Alpha Epsilon Pi house at Vanderbilt, probably in the early hours of Saturday morning, March 14. Vanderbilt police and the dean of students office are investigating.

Where's the national media? The protestors? The orgs and students getting booted off campus??? Why isn't this trending on Twitter?

One must remember that the fraternity men are the victims of hate in this situation rather than the perpetrators. Therefore, it is not of interest beyond the local media.

In all seriousness, it's absolutely disgusting, and there were rumors on campus last night of a swastika being painted in one of the campus dorms after this incident.

Who exactly would be booted off campus?

Exactly at this point. If the perps are currently unknown, then you can't boot them.

His point is that the media is all over a story when the GLO has done something wrong; however, when the GLO has been wronged, the media is curiously silent.

I know what he was trying to do.

But who do we get outraged at? Who is the person or entity that we go after?

We get outraged at the fact that this sort of prejudice still exists in this day and age. Considering it was done inside the house, I'm hoping that the fraternity has some idea of who the dickheads in question might be.

Are you suggesting here there is not an opportunity for demonstrations in support of the AEPi house? Rallies against anti-semitism? Why isn't "all anti-semites" a viable thing to protest against?

"The brothers of the Alpha Gamma Colony of the Zeta Beta Tau Fraternity at Vanderbilt University are deeply concerned, angered, and hurt by the anti-semitic actions that took place at the Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity house this past weekend. Intolerance of any kind has no place on this campus, and we as a brotherhood are prepared to stand up against the hatred and bigotry engrained within the symbolism that the spray-painted swastikas represent.

....."Although this incident took place at the AEPi house, there should be no confusion that this is an act of hate directed towards the entire Jewish community here at Vanderbilt. This shameful incident is an affront to the entire Jewish community as well as every student on this campus who fights for acceptance and tolerance."

......"Immediately after our leadership was made aware of the event, we reached out to AEPi, Vanderbilt Hillel and Chabad, and the Jewish students on campus to offer our support. The brothers of ZBT will stand by the Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity and are willing to assist them in every way we can. I doubt anyone is surprised that things like this happen "in this day and age."

The outrage and/or protests that I've seen have been a result of inaction or minimizing the victims. As far as I can tell, that hasn't happened yet.

If someone starts saying "calm down, Jews, it was just a prank. The holocaust was so many years ago. Stop bringing up religion. I don't see religion. We are just the HUMAN religion," then demonstrate. If we find out who did it and there aren't any consequences, then demonstrate.

I'll wait for you to lead the charge.
