What's Your "We Can Put A Man on the Moon, But Can't____"

Anything that makes you wonder 'why isn't this possible?'

...get rid of Daylight Savings Time
...instead of "check engine" light, just have a message tellling what's wrong
...develop clothes that fold themselves coming out of the dryer

I'll have to think about this one. I have a lot, lol.

I think we should be able to give our war veterans better benefits. I mean, they do put their lives on the line and die so we can live our day-to-day lives. That said, why can't they get the same benefits/pay (plus a little more) as our government?

It is the same amount of sunlight. It's just a matter of whether that sunlight is there when you're driving to work or when you get home from work. I hate getting up for work and driving there in the dark. Ugh. Hate this time change.

My list is really long.

There's going to be the same amount of sunlight each day, regardless of whether it starts an hour earlier or later. ;) And if you never turn the clocks back, it doesn't get darker earlier in the day. There's no "favorite time of year", because then it's the same all year long.

Arizona and Hawaii don't recognize Daylight Savings… why can't the rest of us get on board?!

DeltaBetaBaby 03-07-2015 04:23 PM

I moved from the western edge of one time zone to the eastern edge of another time zone, and it took months to get used to use it.

I like when we fall back, mainly because I work for a company in AZ and live in CA. For half the year, we are both on Pacific time, but for the rest of the year I'm on PST and they are on MST. This means I get to go home by 5pm instead of 6 when I'm the late rad since it's based on Arizona's time zone. There are other benefits, but I won't go on.

Going off Tony's check engine comment, I wish my car could tell me which tire is low, because I think there's a pattern to my tires getting low, but I can't prove it without it getting low, taking it to the dealer, and writing down which tire it is once they fix it.

Tell me about it. My car's computer indicates which tire has gone awry, but the husband's car - not so much - just the little blinking triangle with the exclamation point. Which sucks, because his car is the snow car (my car is awesome 9 months of the year, but it's rubbish in snow).

So...

We can put a man on the moon, but can't ...
- Currently put a man on the moon because there's no longer really a space program in the US.
- Give people in the US a functional healthcare system. (Although Obamacare was a good try.)
- Create a decent train infrastructure in the US. (Japan has bullet trains. The best we have is Acela.)

The list goes on ...

i feel like an old fogey. everything i WOULD say is now a reality in some shape or form.

video phones / facetime

self-parking cars (even though i don't have one yet)

remote start

comfy high heels

girl-scout cookies available year round

i'm already living in the future, lol. this girl is set.

We can put a man on the moon, but can't…

- get good/extensive public transit in Houston!
- serve breakfast past 10:30am at McDonald's
- consistently make women's shoes in narrow after they go above a size 8
- get the line at the DMV to move faster!
- come up with a way to stop injured animals from licking themselves other than using the dreaded cone!
- make broccoli taste like Cool Ranch Doritos
- find MH370 (and create a better way to track planes)
