Kappa Alpha Theta on "Interim Suspension" at Lehigh
Hi, LaneSig and others,
Lehigh’s Kappa Alpha Theta Chapter is on “temporary suspension.” The student paper has an article mentioning, among other things, a “no-contact” rule preventing active members from further contact with new members. See: http://thebrownandwhite.com/2015/02/...ity-suspended/ |

I would think so. It's just usually not spelled out. I'm not sure how you enforce it, though, especially at a smallish school like Lehigh.
|
How can new member education be conducted under these restrictions - if even the NM educator can't speak to the NMs? Or is the NM program on hold until the suspension is lifted?
|
yes, the article says all activities, including new member education, are on hold.

Reading between the lines, it sounds like the alleged violations may be considered hazing, so no contact with new members woulkd make sense during the investigation.

Developments -- Update:
http://thebrownandwhite.com/2015/02/...ary-probation/ from article ^: "The interim suspension has been lifted with the exception of social events . . . Although an investigation into the accusations remain ongoing, chapter members are now allowed to conduct limited chapter operations. The sorority, however, has been placed on disciplinary probation from Feb. 19, 2015 through May 31, 2015 ... " |
