standards stuff, i guess
hey, i'm an ASA at penn state erie and recently my chapter terminated a sister without following the whole due process thing. she's appealing to nationals, but apparently they haven't received anything yet, and it's been almost 5 months... and personally, the sister didn't deserve termination... but that's just my own personal opinion. anyway, the chapter has decided they want to forget about it and just have her back, no hard feelings, as long as she is willing - what kind of situations do you think this is going to create for everyone all around?? i'd be really grateful for your opinions! thanks!

Hi Heather! Nationals can be sloooow sometimes, so I would bet there is a 75% chance they haven't gotten to it yet.
Email Kelly Miller or your province director and let her know the situation - that the chapter has reconsidered and don't want the termination to go through. Pretty much nationals really don't like to terminate people if they are up to date on dues and not doing anything really heinous - we had a few people we terminated that appealed it and they won. (they didn't get active with the chapter again, but that is another can o' worms) As long as the sister wants to be there and the chapter wants her there, plus if it was done w/out due process, it should be easy to get her back in and active. Hope it all works out! Good to see another sister on here - stay warm up there!! BRRR! Alpha love, Sheila |
Sheila,
Thanks so much. I know the president has talked to Kelly Miller and the chapter is going to make a "final"decision at our meeting this week... I'm just hopeful that everything works out for both the sister and the chapter! On a personal note, are you an alumna or active? Where do/did you go to school? Alpha love, Heather |
Heather - I am an old bat alumna. ;) I went to Clarion (which is dormant at present, but we are trying to change that...) back in the 80's. I'm prez of the alum chapter in Pittsburgh, so if you need anything, just yell.

I know if I was the terminated sister, I'd just want alumna status. I think it would be a terrible feeling to have your sisters decide to terminate you (which just sounds mean anyway), especially without reason.
