Rejoining?
Hi! I dropped out of my sorority halfway through my senior year when I became overwhelmed with student teaching, two jobs, and volunteer work (aka working 6am-8pm 5 days a week and volunteering all Saturday). Even though I knew I wouldn't be able to make it to sorority events anymore, a woman from nationals refused to let the officers offer me any kind of status or financial help. I ended up dropping because I wasn't going to pay for something when I wasn't getting to participate (oh, and they would have fined me for missing some events for work).
Now that I'm a little way out of college, I'm wondering if it's possible to rejoin the sorority. An AGD told me she knows people who have done it, but I was an AXO. Any info about this? |
For Alpha Gamma Delta, it is NOT a straight forward process- and from what I've heard, it is not easy nor does it always lead to gaining your membership back. However, it doesn't matter if Alpha Gam allows it- you will need to speak to Alpha Chi Omega HQ and find out your specific policies! I wish there was more to say, but each organisation dictates the terms of their membership, and we can't tell you where AXO stands. I wish you the best of luck, and I hope that you can work this out with your HQ!! :)

Correct, AGD does allow it but there are stipulations, including a cost. Call your headquarters and ask them what it takes to become reinstated.

The woman at your national office most likely made your chapter follow the national rules-it was not like she was out to get your personally. It is just that when you join a sorority you agree to abide by certain rules and requirements that are for ALL members.
As others have suggested, call your headquarters directly and see if there is something you can do to be reinstated as a full member. |
