De-Pledging

So if I join a sorority at one college in the spring, but don't get initiated, then switch to a different college in the fall can I do regular formal rush and join any sorority?

Titchou 01-25-2015 12:19 AM

Yes...if you are talking about an NPC group. But you cannot be initiated. That's the rule.

So I can pledge this semester of an NPC and depledge before fall and then do regular rush for all the sororites at my new college??

Was there something confusing about Titchou's reply to you? It was pretty clear to me. What didn't you understand? Her advice applies IF you transfer universities, as you indicated.

What are the chances of getting a bid at the new college if I depledge from a sorority else where?

We can't handicap your odds like in Vegas. If you let your current group know you are depledging because you're transferring, no one should hold it against you. But depending on your new school, your chances as a sophomore (or junior or senior) might be less solely because of your class standing.

Also - if you KNOW you're going to be depledging due to transferring, be considerate and depledge as soon as possible. That way the sorority will have time to fill your spot.

Why would you pledge a sorority if you don't intend to be initiated and you plan to transfer to a different college after this semester? It sounds selfish and self serving.

The pledge period is remarkably short these days. It's a lot of money to be a pledge for 6 weeks if you don't intend to become a full member. Is there a party you were looking to get invited to?

Our Magic 8 Balls are down for repair. We have no way to even guess if you will get a bid if you rush again at a new university.

Honestly did not know that was a thing
