Greetings from Germany
Hi,
first i like to apologize in advance for my bad English but as far as you can guess it is not my mothertongue. My name is Sebastian 29 years old and i stumpled here by coincidence, while googling for similar organisation like our "Studentenverbindungen" in Germany. And after reading this forum quite passionatly i dedicded to register and take part here. If it's okay that i am not from a American Fraternity ? Oh by the way i am from a german "Studentenverbindung" called Burschenschaft Hohenheimia which is from Hohenheim university. I have to say that both fraternities/sororities share many similarities with our "Studenterverbindungen". Greetings Sebastian Z! xxx |

Guten abend Sebastian. Wie geht es ihnen?

Mir geht es sehr gut und Ihnen ?
Vielen Dank für die herzliche Begrüßung. Oh btw. if somebody has questions regarding Germany or "Studentenverbindungen" i will be glad to answer them. I thought about writing a more or less big topic about "Studentenverbindungen". So maybe the false information that is often shared would be a little bit clarified and maybe help the on or another who is interested in it. |

Thank you MysticCat.
I already read that threat. It is a bit inaccurate and in some aspects just plain wrong. So i will try my best to write a good sturctured overview about how it works in Germany. Maybe i will be able to catch the intereset of some people here. Sebastian Z! |
Mir geht es sehr gut.
We would enjoy learning about the studentenverbindungen. |

Hertzlich willkommen Sebastian!
Wie geht es dir? Ich bin am moment student an der uni in den Niederlanden. And while I do speak German, I'm horrible at the grammar, so I'll stick to English! I'm familiar with the German Studentenverbindungen and have visited some. I'm a member (reunist/ alumna) of a Dutch "studentenvereniging". I know how many different kinds of groups the Netherlands has, so I can only imagine how many different groups and kinds of Studentenverbindungen Germany holds. I would be very interested to learn more about them. I knew about the American Greek system growing up, which is what piqued my interest in the Dutch "Greek" experience when I moved here. I would love to hear about your experiences since I have a feeling the Dutch and German student-groups can operate quite similar. Welcome to GreekChat! |
Vielen Dank, Tulip86. Ich habe ein bisschen zu wenig geschlafen aber ansonsten gut und dir?
As i pomised here is the beginning of the journey into the world of german fraternities. ;) Just note i am doing this all by myself and there can be some mistakes but i am very positiv that most of it is right.
