Freak Weather caused by Global Warming

Alright, our winter has been exceptionally mild so far. I'm about to set out into the first cold day of the year (-22 celcius/-30 with wind chill) or - 7.6/-22 fairenheit for ya'll backwards folk....mind you in two days the temperature will be hitting above freezing...

Anyone wanna share some flukey weather that can be attributed to global warming?
Doesn't seem like anyone cares about the affects that global warming is bringing, right?

This post was made at 6:40 am, stumbling to class on almost no sleep and the pabst diet? I think the only thing I care about is seeing Belarus win the gold at the olympics in hockey.

It snowed in Vancouver for 4 days straight - we had all our snow for January in those 4 days - now if that isn't crazy weather...

Crazy weather is our name here in Upstate NY... didnt snow at in December, not even for X-mas. Then BUffalo gets hit with 7 feet of snow, meanwhile Rochester which is an hour away gets nada. Not even lake effect or a drizzle. It was sunny here. Then both of us get 50+ degree weather for about 3 weeks. Now we've been hit with snow.. and just had a huge windstorm.

Hey is been know to snow here in May. We're use to it.

Does that have the same effect in the summer, lots of rain?

We're having some crazy weather here in Georgia. Just last week, we were wearing shorts and enjoying 76 degree weather. Tonight they're calling for below freezing temperatures, and an ice storm/snow storm for tomorrow and Thursday. CRAZY!

How about 82 one day and 42 the next?

amycat412 02-05-2002 04:50 PM

39 last week--coldest its even been in my 15 years in So Cal and 75 today. Go figure.

juniorgrrl 02-05-2002 05:16 PM

Last Thursday I was in shorts and a tank top.

Last Friday I was freezing to death in jeans, turtleneck and my pea coat at a Mardi Gras parade.

Unfortunately, this freak weather is just business as usual in Southeast Louisiana. Its wierd to bring tank tops and wool sweaters to school at the same time, but hey, its necessary :p

are you sure about that??? I have never heard anything about that...source?

You do bring up a good point, sometimes I think those meterologists are using a magic 8 ball...shake shake shake "will there be snow next thursday",
"outlook not so good"

Last thursday they predicted that it was supposed to be 14 degrees celcius! This was released a week before, but when thursday came it was - 14....holy hell, how can be off by sooo much?!?!?!?

I saw it on National Geographic.com - all the extra ice is interefering with penguin mating and some populations are having a bad reproduction year! Apparently they can't get to their nesting grounds with all the ice.

Oh yeah, and the ice pack growing does nothing to disprove global warming. They're not really related.

Temperature fluctuation isn't really all that well understood it turns out - Think about the great epochs of the Earth.

We've had ice ages, monsoon weather, boiling oceans . . . and that's just from the stupid videos I had to watch in BI109.

If you think about it, a 0.4-degree temperature increase over the last century doesn't prove global warming . . . that, and the "Greenhouse Effect", which is a term that has taken on propaganda-like proportions, is basically necessary for life on the planet.

Think about it - there have been numerous ice ages, and these featured rapid temperature changes. Less than half a degree doesn't really in and of itself prove much, and we don't know the effects on precipitation . . .
