Luise Rainer 1910-2014
Ms. Rainer was the first back-2-back Best Actress Oscar winner, winning for "The Great Ziegfield" and "The Good Earth".

Just watched "The great Ziegfeld" the other day. She was wonderful.

She was the oldest living Oscar winner; by my calculations and research, I think Christopher Plummer, at age 85, is now the oldest living (acting) Oscar winner (he won his Oscar at age 82).
|
Olivia Dehavilland is age 98 and also won an Academy Award.
|
The oldest living non-acting Oscar winner is Elmo Williams, 101, who won in 1952 for editing High Noon.

I completely forgot about Ms. DeHavilland. She is now the oldest Oscar winner in the acting categories. |
