Mary Ann Mobley Passes Away
 

So very sorry to hear that Chi Omega sister Mary Ann Mobley, the first Miss Mississippi to become Miss America, has lost her battle with breast cancer. May her memory be eternal.

Oh, no! I am so sorry to read this. I was but a very small lass when she was crowned Miss America and grew up admiring her. Then of course was very proud to have her as a sister and role model when I became a Chi Omega.

She was beautiful inside and out, and devoted much of her life to charitable causes she was genuinely committed to, particularly the plight of children in Third World countries.

I pray for the peaceful repose of her soul as well as comfort for those who loved and will miss her.

I wasn't there in 1959 when she was crowned Miss America, but I was at the Chi Omega Convention in 1990 when she attended. RIP Sister Mobley.
