LOR question
This might be a silly question, but when you ask someone to write a LOR, do they normally send it to you or directly to the chapter at the school? Because if it's mailed directly to the chapter, how do you know that it was actually done?
When I've written recs it has been coordinated through our local panhellenic and alumnae chapters, so we send the letters to our rec chairman, she distributes them to the schools, and the rec writers send cards to the PNMs letting them know that a rec was written on their behalf. Fall 2015 will be my first time as the parent of a PNM, so I am wondering what the process is when you ask for additional recs other than the ones obtained through panhellenic. DD hasn't decided on her school but it will be either A&M, UT, Alabama, Arkansas or LSU, so recs will be important. Thanks for any help as I start navigating this process that is world's apart from my rush experience from 25 years ago! |
It is sent directly to the chapter. You don't know it has been sent unless the alumna notifies you that she just dropped it in the mail. An alumna will not know if the recommendation has been received unless the chapter send out some sort of acknowledgement to her.
