Anyone ever moved out of their house at semester?
Basically my roommates and I just aren't gelling. There's way too much drama, and my stress level is at an all time high with grad school applications and I can't handle it. These are all sorority sisters, but I really don't care what they think if I move out. Some of my other sorority sisters have a spare bedroom in their house, and I've all but told them I'm moving in if I can find a sublease.
So have any of you ever had to find a subleaser in college? I know it's getting late in the semester but how did you go about it? I don't even know where to start. Also, how do I tell them I'm moving out? Like I said I don't really care what they think but I just want to keep the awkwardness to a minimum. Any advice would be appreciated. |
Is this your sorority house or just a place you share with all sisters?
If your campus newspaper (or its digital equivalent) is widely read by the student body, that's probably the best way to find someone. Craigslist or the like would bring out too many creepos. |
Are there any other sisters who pledged last semester who would like to move out of the dorm and into your room? You could discretely ask around.
I moved out of our chapter house at semester break, but I had gone alum at the time and they were expecting my departure. |
This is an off-campus apartment. The complex is upperclassmen only.

I would suggest before looking for a sub-lease to talk to your roommates. It will be much more awkward if they find out from someone you ask to move in. I would also check with your apartment complex, they may keep a list of people that are looking to sublease and share that information with people that come in looking for a place to live.
Once you've spoken with your roommates, could you share it with sisters who might be looking. If someone is coming back from study abroad or maybe a sister knows a friend who is transferring to your school? |
