At Least 57 College Students Have Died This Fall Semester

Since classes started in August, at least 57 college students have died at campuses around the country.
Two Rutgers University students died, three of the 57 passed away at Michigan State University, and four students from Clemson University in South Carolina have died this year.
The Huffington Post tracked the news reports about campus deaths, and listed the names of each student below. As the list shows, there is no dominant cause of death, and a student passing away can happen at any type of campus. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/1...n_6091622.html

One of them died from a bear attack.

How did THAT happen?

I don't know, but all of the groups on that campus need to immediately enforce a moratorium on bears.

It was a really, really stupid decision. Story as told by one of the survivors:

"We were walking on a trail and encountered a couple warning us that a black bear was following them. We, being very curious and stupid, decided to check it out and take a pic of it. We were on an uphill and saw the bear approximately 50 meters away. We all thought we were safe and took a picture of it. Then it spotted us and started to walk faster. We all panicked and started to run. That's when it picked up its pace and started to run. We all sprinted off the trail and kept looking back and saw the bear was getting closer and closer till the point it was about 20 feet away from us. Then that's when we all separated. One of my friends was still running next to me. We both ran about 5-10 mins or so till we saw a house. We called the cops immediately and 3 of my friends who were still missing. Two of them picked up their phones and we all were able to meet up."

The third man who didn't answer his phone was the victim. More info.

We're here! We're queer! We don't want any more bears!

That's awful. But the only thing I can think of is Colbert:

The Beta Rho Chapter of Kappa Delta at San Diego State lost 2 sisters in about 3 weeks. The first died of meningitis while the second fell off of a 5 story building while drunk.

I didn't see anyone from Indiana University on that list and we've had three student deaths this semester so the number could be more, if there's some from other schools that haven't made it onto this list. It's so sad no matter how they died.
