Delta Gamma at DePauw: Fire in a Room During Break, Sprinkler System Worked
 

The sprinkler system worked as planned at an Oct. 23 fire in a room at Delta Gamma at DePauw. A reported statement from DG reads, in part:

“The damage to the home was caused mostly by the fire suppression system, which worked as it was designed. Delta Gamma regional and local volunteers ensured the house was functional and welcoming for our women returning to campus from fall break.”

Comment: a repeat of exlurker’s oft-said reminder that sprinkler systems save lives. Even when the sprinklers' operation results in some damage, they can help prevent tragedy or more extensive damage.

So glad the sprinkler system worked and that no one was injured.

Also - AMEN to your comment. Have had more arguments than I can count with people about a sprinkler system causing too much damage to whatever is inside the building than a fire would. :rolleyes: :eek:
