19th Century Hazing Society

Yesterday's e-mail brought the Bowdoin News which included this historical note.

The student advice is quaint. What piqued my curiosity was the reference to Phi Chi ("freshmen must never sing Phi Chi") piqued my curiosity. I looked it up. Talk about hazing!

The song still exists: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZaiO_YSz6M
.....as I played the YouTube clip, my husband sang along.

That chorus is now stuck in my head!! Thanks ever so much!!

I can understand them not wanting the freshmen to wear stuff from their prep schools - they wanted them to be part of the college they were at now not lean on what was past.
