Jameis Winston

It seems every few days we learn something new that Winston has done or was possibly a part of. The Most recent story being did he sign items for money for the same company the Georgia player got in trouble with.

When is it going to be going to be enough? He's shown that he has very little self restraint, questionable decision making and morals.

He's a text book case of the athlete who always gets away with it until one day they do something truly terrible (Rice, Peterson, Hernandez)

As a football fan I'm disgusted with the way this has been handled on all levels, FSU, police, the NCAA.

His father quoted from http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports...sault/8969103/ earlier this year.

"He's supposed to have somebody around him 24/7," says Antonor Winston. "He a Heisman Trophy winner so (he's) definitely not supposed to be by (himself)."

Sadly, it sounds like his father raised him to live in a bubble of entitlement. It seems he never learned to live with the consequences of his actions.

If it's true that he signed those autographs, he should be kicked off the team. Gurley was a hugely valuable player for Georgia, but they had the guts to remove him when he broke NCAA rules. I'm more and more disappointed in FSU with every story about this kid.

Yeah, Gurley's practicing with the team this week, and the rumor is that he will be playing on Saturday.

There's a lot of evidence that he already did do something truly terrible. But since it was deliberately covered up and not investigated, we'll never know.

The 24/7 babysitter thing is just bizarre. Isn't he supposed to be a grown-ass man?

I don't think the signing of autographs is the reason Winston should be kicked off the team.

I like to think about it as being analogous to Al Capone finally getting time for tax evasion. Is it the worst thing that he did? Probably not, but at least they got him in the end.

LOL, fair enough. And those autograph dealers were totally asking for it.

It will be interesting to see which NFL team (if any) will be willing to pick him up, especially if these off-the-field issues continue. He still doesn't seem to understand that his actions have consequences, but it'll be real apparent if he's sitting at the NFL draft, and he never hears his name called.

And even if he does and he enters the pros, daddy can't be by his side 24/7 to make sure he behaves himself.

Winston's antics will cost him money (draft position). But if he doesn't wind up in jail, he'll likely get drafted in a later round. It happens every year -- somebody drops (based on rumors, for whatever reason), and the drafting team gets a "steal" if he pans out.

If Winston's not drafted (unlikely), he's a free agent who get to pick what team he thinks best fits his talents. There are always coaches who think they can "fix" players, and make them productive in their systems.

This doesn't surprise me, their's a picture going around of Winston at a seafood counter with someone who is obviously a chaperone.

I don't care how good of a player he is, I wouldn't give a scholarship to an 18yr old who needs a babysitter 24/7.

Really? I'd seen reports that he was kicked out of school.

amIblue? 10-14-2014 12:27 PM

Yep, really.

I think part of Winston's problem is that he's just not that bright. He needs a chaperone because he makes poor decisions and lacks good judgement. People have always done things for him so he has no idea how to think for himself.
