At the risk of being compared to two other GCers who ONLY post about their own GLOs, please add Joan Ganz Cooney*, first executive director of Childrens Television Workshop (1968). She was definitely a pioneer in many ways.

*Kappa Alpha Theta, from the University of Arizona chapter

Signet Society is really not a Greek group in any sense. Odd to see it included on this list. I guess it bears some resemblance to the literary societies that some GLOs used to be. The final clubs are really local fraternities, but I don't see Signet that way. (Tejas Club does call itself a fraternity and serves that role.)

I'm surprised there weren't instant comments about the word WERE.

And at risk of the same accusation, the first female CEO of a Fortune 500 company is Verna Gibson, of The Limited Corporation (in the 90's) and an Alpha Xi Delta.

I think it is interesting that both Ms. Gibson and Betsey Johnson are virtually the same age and were probably living in the chapter house at Syracuse at the same time. I wonder what other remarkable achievements came out of that few years. And were they the IT chapter or THOSE girls?

Adding one that isn't my GLO, Carolyn Rafaelian is the founder of Alex and Ani bracelets as well as an Alpha Xi Delta from the University of Rhode Island.

How about Erin Condren, a Delta Gamma, who has her own very successful design company?

Dorothy Chandler, Pi Beta Phi, Chairman of the Board of the Los Angeles Times. Ever hear of the Dorothy Chandler Pavillion in LA? Yeah, named in her honor.

Gay Warren Gaddis, Pi Beta Phi.
Founder, president and CEO of T3, an Austin, Texas, advertising, marketing and public relations firm that was named one of the largest woman-owned businesses in Texas

I love research.
