Comments to both sides...
There are a number of Philippines Fraternities with the same name as the US Fraternities. The relationship cover the entire range from recognized/started by US Brothers (Alpha Phi Omega) to the US group trying to actively trying to sue them out of existance. (Phi Beta Kappa/Alpha Tau Omega)
Sigma Alpha Epsilon of the Philippines at a National Level seems to be fairly consistent in using their logo (Large Eagle extending through a Circle landing on a triangle), but there is certainly work to be done..
For Sigma Alpha Epsilon Philippines, the name comes from Society of Agricultural Engineers. While I don't know (and don't want to know) why Sigma Alpha Epsilon USA chose that name, I do believe the brother who told me it wasn't Society of Agricultural Engineers (I'd be shocked if any NPC/NPHC/NIC group had a name that came from an English Phrase.)
In short, to Sigma Alpha Epsilon USA, there are Philippines groups with *worse* confusion in regards to using USA Symbols.
OTOH, to the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Philippines brothers. Yes, you represent yourself with the same Greek Letters. They don't mean the same thing and in addition to that there is *nothing* in your history that gives you any right to tie yourself to Sigma Alpha Epsilon of the United States. (So they had 8 founders like you, *shrug*)
As a follow-up having seen the attempted reachouts from the Philippines of both Alpha Sigma Phi -Philippines (which although one ASPhi-USA national president was interested) and Delta Upsilon -Philippines, it becomes *quite* clear to me that no Social Fraternity in the United States will ever attempt to make an international organization out of a group with the same name in the Philippines, the underlying concepts of how Fraternity life are just too different. (For example, it is completely foreign for an NIC fraternity to have any sort of underlying high school group affiliated with it. (The NPHC groups do, but they would be even less likely to affiliate than the NIC groups))
Is there the possibility that a professional GLO (or more likely an honorary) in the USA will welcome Philippines chapters, yes, but that's no where near the situation here...
