Ferrets!
I know y'all responded to my adoption option thread, and that was cool. ^^ It was a nice 'welcome back', if you will. :) But it didn't seem like anyone owned ferrets! I was just wondering if there were any more GCers out there that owned ferrets. ^^ I know this is a somewhat pointless topic, but, y'know, us ferret lovers have to stick together! :)

I love ferrets!! I don't have any because it says in my lease that I can't have pets :( but my Hunny knows that the minute I move out, I'm buying one!! They're so cute-did you know they're illegal in California? I don't know why, but it's true. I learned that when I bought my ferrets 2002 calander.(Can't believe I just admitted that I have a ferret calander :) )
Ok, this post makes me look like I know way too much about ferrets... |

Did you say ferrets? My fiance and I own 2 ferrets...actually, she owns them, I just live with/feed/water/clean up after & play with them. They are great, one is a silver and the other is a blackfoot, I think. (One is all silver/white and the other is like a raccoon...). Anyway, they are great, but I cannot figure out why our 15lb cat would be afraid of them???

Heeheehee...
My 100-lb Rottweiler dreads them! They like to climb all over him! :) Yeah, I knew they were illegal in Cali, and until '94, they were illegal in Michigan, too. It stems from the fact that the Old Powers-That-Be in congress won't recognize the fact that ferrets are not wild. They think making ferrets legal will have the potential to introduce a new feral species, which California doesn't need. Thing is, ferrets can't survive more than three days in the wild, due to their trustful nature. They are 100% domesticated.... There are even Egyptian tombs where ferrets are painted on the walls, and mummified... I've already written letters, hoping to get them legalized, and I feel that within 5 years, they will be. There have already been several bills that have passed through one house, only to be votoed by another. I figure, when the old farts get out of there, the newbies will be a bit more creative in what laws they pass! ;) By the way, I, too, have the 2002 Ferret Calendar! ^^ |
I don't have a ferret, but we bought our older daughter a hampster for Christmas. And, I must admit, she has grown on me! Her name is Julie and she is gray and white and just the cutest little thing! The only thing is she is very, very active at night and likes to scamper around her cage and play in her exercise wheel so she has been banished to the family room so the rest of us can sleep upstairs.

Our ferrets names are Casper and Weasel.....and we too have the 2002 ferret calendar!
