trans person in greek life?

So this question is kind of the reason I made an account on here. I wanted to honest opinions of the greater greek community at large rather than my specific little corner of the world. I'm not gonna comment on what I think of my question for you all since I don't really want to influence the responses one way or the other (at least at first).
So my question is, lets say you had a girl in a sorority or a guy in a frat who had been in your chapter for lets say 2 or 3 years. In other words they have been intiated and they are relatively well known (and maybe even well liked). But then around that 2 or 3 year period it comes out that this person is transgender and has been hiding it for fear of repriasal and/or social exclusion. I think for the purposes of this we can assume they've had the surgery since idk how one could hide that for 2 or 3 years without it. I'm just curious what everyone here would do or think about this situation. Obviously its hypothetical and hasn't happened in my person life. I just was thinking about it when another one of my friends brought up to me the idea that trans people could already be in our organization and we just don't know.

Contrary to popular porn belief we don't all see each other's naughty bits on a daily, even if we live together. It would be really easy for someone to not disclose it.

^^ I'm sure you know this, but all trans issues don't boil down to genitalia :)

I'm assuming that in this hypothetical, the guy in the fraternity is FTM (or vice versa for the sorority example). If that's the case, let him be.

I can't remember if it was discussed in the other thread, but I'm not sure what the (single sex status) ramifications are if someone is MTF (or vice versa) in a fraternity (or sorority). I'll have to check that out. Thanks for the link, amIblue.

Oh, ground hogs day already?

I'll bring the vodka for the sweet tea if you save me a rocker on that porch.

I think 33girl was specially responding to this comment made by the OP.

I only said they'd need to have the surgery mainly cause if they didn't they'd need to celebate and it'd probably show up on some documentation. As for it coming out "years later" I was thinking it'd be like someone they knew from high school or something rushed and recognized them. I have no idea why 33girl immediately jumped to the assumption of porn...

What? I mean like how could someone like that try and sleep around like that and people not start to talk? Point is its a way they could be found out.

So the choices are celibacy or whoredom?

alyssa2112 09-05-2014 05:30 PM

No, like think of the risks of even trying to date tho? That's what I'm saying. Cause what happens if this person tries to date someone and that guy flips out. Shit like that gets around fast as hell. Especially if the guy is in a frat or something. Everyone will know in like a week.
