Joan Rivers on Life Support

Positive energy to Joan Rivers. She stopped breathing Thursday after surgery on her vocal chords. She was placed in a medically induced coma and is now on life support.

Joan Rivers

I know her humor isn't for everyone but she fought her way to success in a male dominated industry. Here's hoping she recovers.

:( :(

Please get better, Joan - you know Lena Dunham has a butt ton of ugly dresses in her closet!!

Sexist, patriarchal, misogynist, heterocentric, and homophobic male dominated industry.

Has anyone heard/read what some men comedians (especially from Joan Rivers' generation) say about (1) women and (2) women comedians?

Comedians are often considered a window into societies. They definitely mirror how patriarchal societies view women as weak, perpetual victims, in need of a man to be the "lead", and primarily defined and valued as mothers and wives. Therefore, most people either do not find women funny or only want women comedians to do "woman jokes". ETA: Google "women not funny" and "women comedians not funny" to read the nonsense.

...and our library already has her Dead Celebrity Announcement, with Joan's books/videos/CDs, on its Main Display Table (those librarians sure work fast!).

Nooooo.....I love Fashion Police on E! I am afraid it will be lost forever. I will miss Joan Rivers, she always made me laugh.

If you've never watched her documentary, "A Piece of Work", do so. It's a very good look into her work ethic and drive. She will be missed.

Rough times for the comedians of the world over the past month. I liked Joan Rivers and had a cassette tape of one of her shows back in the late 80s. And she is a Barnard grad so there's that.

OH NO!!!

I'd love to hear what she had to say to St. Peter. ;)

I'm not surprised. She was an extremely intelligent lady.
Joan, your legacy can not be duplicated. Rest well. You worked hard for it.
