Redheads
 

Who else on GC is a redhead besides me??? Girls, guys, anybody??? Let's all talk about "redhead" stuff on here...misconceptions and assumptions by non-redheads about us, etc. Any funny stories about being a redhead? If you have freckles like I do, even better! :D I think there are enough things about blondes on here...(nothing against blondes---I used to want to be one myself---looked REALLY bad when I bleached my hair LOL). Anyone ever call you nicknames like "red", "freckles", "carrot top", "little orphan annie", etc?!? Anyone else have green eyes? Ladies, have guys ever assumed that you're "wild" because of your hair? Or "exotic"? TELL ALL!!! :D

One of the stereotypes I always hear about redheads is that they are short-tempered, which is false.

I was a redhead...for a while ( hee, hee) There are so may KINDS of reds. I realy like the deep dark red (Auburn) or the strawberry blond. My nephew is a pure red head with freckles. It seems to be hard on a guy to have that color. It is a head- turner though, especially if you have your own style! The only combination I like more for its' uniqueness is black hair and blue or green eyes.

My mom is a redhead with green eyes but (sadly) I did not get those genes! :( One of my favorite sisters is a redhead (bright, gorgeous red hair - couldn't fake it in a salon to save your life!) and people always ask her if it's dyed. That would definitely get on my nerves after a while.... I read in Cosmo that there's a makeup line specifically designed for redheads - has anyone tried it?

one my best friends is named mary, she has gorgeous red hair... we sometimes called her bloody mary ;) she mistakely told us that her dad wanted to name her maxine... just think of all the puns, red hair.. maxi pad... yeah we're mean, but we've known each other for 10 years, so its ok :D

My little sister has strawberry blonde/reddish hair! She is the cutest thing ever too! If you have red hair you gotta have the freckles to go along with it! :) hehe my mom has natural red highlights in her hair and it looks really good..too bad my younger sister and I didnt get any of those genes. I do however have green eyes when the rest of my family had blue eyes.

I'm a redhead! My hair's sort of dark red/auburn, I have blue-green eyes, and I have the typical redhead paleness, too. Not many freckles, though. :)

People I don't know always comment on my hair - "Wow, is that natural?", "I'm so jealous!", "Look at that hair!", etc. I like it. Doesn't bother me. I like that it's unique.

And yes, people (especially guys) make comments about how it must mean I'm "wild" or a "hellcat", lol.

Twin redheads
 

My best friend is a redhead. So is his twin brother. It's kinda funny to walk around with them, because everybody would look at us, like, wow look at those guys. Yeah, redhead times two!

All of their family members are redhead, I think Jason told me. He is dating a redhead as well, so jokingly we always count the possibility of their kids to be redhead as well ... 100%? Since the redhead is dominant gene?

Yeah everyone in my family had PLATINUM BLONDE hair and BLUE eyes until they were teenagers, which then turned into BROWN hair and still BLUE eyes. No one in my family has more than four or five freckles, but I have THOUSANDS of freckles! I used to absolutely HATE them, but now they don't bother me all that much. I'm really pale too, and if I try to get a tan I burn (but it later turns into a very slight tan). I have to use tan-in-a-bottle stuff :(

My story is this...I have GREEN EYES...and my hair color continued to get DARKER up through age 17...I was a STRAWBERRY BLONDE until age 3...had BRIGHT RED HAIR until age 12...have REDDISH BROWN hair now, but I dye it just two shades redder than my hair is now to make it less brown, because it otherwise all my freckles look WEIRD! When I was four I got my first PERM (my hair's REALLY REALLY straight), and people kept calling me "Annie" or "Strawberry Shortcake" or "Carrot Top" which I absolutely HATED. So around age 16 I decided to bleach my hair BLONDE (scary!!!), but realized I looked much better as a redhead. LOL.

Anyway, it's weird but most guys I've dated were always intrigued by my hair being red (and even my freckles!), and that definitely changed my attitude about it. Until I started dating I thought I was a freak for having red hair. Even with all my freckle, I do get asked sometimes whether my hair is natural or not...and I always give a "well yes and no" answer b/c although I dye my hair, it's really just an ENHANCEMENT of the red already there. I think my *current* NATURAL hair color is too dull looking for my skin tones, and I like it to be brighter.

My Hunny, god bless him, is the poster boy for the Irish: red hair, green eyes, freckles, hot temper :) He's so cute though.

I've always been intrigued by red hair. I dyed my hair red in college but after one too many people told me I looked like Molly Ringwald, I dyed it back to dark brown.

My older daughter had lovely strawberry blonde hair when she was a toddler and then it turned to blonde. Now it's getting darker so who knows where it will end up.

A HAIR FACT I READ...
I've heard that the best way to find a becoming color to dye your hair is by looking at pictures of yourself when you were a kid and to choose that color. Wouldn't make any difference for me since my hair has always been dark brown but some of you who were blonde or strawberry blonde might be interested to know that :)

I have reddish/brown hair and a lot of people think I dyed it. The funny thing is, I am Afr. Am for the most part and have freckles! My boyfriend thinks it is really sexy especially when it is down and curly.
