To join or not to join
 

I have a student that is considering rushing. He is a new freshman at a major SEC school. His dad and I are reluctant to support this. What were your reservations?:confused:

Um, he probably needed to decide this a few months ago, not now when he gets there.

Any trouble he can get into in a fraternity, he can get into just as easily out of one, if you are worrying about partying and such.

As a graduate of a Greek program I can say it's worth it. A bond is built that can never be broken. You feel support from other students at your university and often take classes with them (which ensures you stay focused on studies). There will always be a negative stigma associated with greek life, but it's extremely rewarding in the end. Let him try rushing and see if he feels that he fits in!
