I wonder what will come of it all... Manslaughter?

DrPhil 08-11-2014 12:08 PM

I hope not, even based on the jurisdictional definition of manslaughter. This is an example of unfortunate things happening but no charges should be filed/charges should be dropped. That guy shouldn't have walked in front of race cars.

Nobody knows what happened yet. Investigation is open and racing experts are examining the footage and advising police.

Still trying to figure out why Stewart was racing a dirt track the night before a sponsored race. You didn't see Jordan at the local park balling the night before a Bulls game.

I was hoping to see PB's comments over here. He has a lot of knowledge about auto-racing. It would be interesting to see what his thoughts are on it.

Tony Stewart has always been known to be fond of sprint car racing and he's been driving on that circuit for years. This wasn't a case of him randomly showing up at a dirt track for giggles. He races sprint cars in addition to NASCAR.

Sprint Car racing is also sponsored racing as it is with most professional auto sports. Stewart's sponsor in NASCAR is also his sponsor in Sprint Car racing. Stewart also owns many Sprint Car racing tracks. Basketball is basketball, auto racing is auto racing. Nothing close or similar.
