What You Like?LOve Most About Your Chapter
Hi, I was just wondering what people thought was special/unique about their chapter? What you Like the most about it. Ill start.
Alpha Gamma Delta- Alpha Beta We are so diverse that its almost funny. We have girls of different racial backgrounds, economics (from totally filthy rich to extremely poor, dats me http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif). Even a variety of religions. Plus we're not like any other sorority on campus, not that the rest are bad or stereotypical necessarily. I think what I like the most is the fact that we can just take a football out and start playing a game or tossing it. Thats when I knew I loved my sorority. We were at a frat for a tailgate and just started tossing the ball around. The guys watched us and then asked to play a game with us and it was us against them. We had so much fun. The frat nest door that they have a love/hate relationship with and the one across the street just watched us astonished. You dont see that many sorority girls playing football at my school. ------------------ "Its Great To Be A Mich-igan AGD! :)" |
sorry for the bad grammar, its 2am :-)

I love this topic UM Girl!! I think the thing I like so much about my chapter (AGD, Zeta Alpha) is the same thing as you; that we are all so diverse and down to earth. I don't know if it's b/c we are down the street from each other but we are also very very diverse with many economic, racial, etc.. backgrounds and we are always the "cool fun girls anyone can get along with"

Well to add another Alpha Gam reply...I feel the same about my chapter. I think we are really diverse (which I know everyone thinks), but just as the two posts before me stated, there are girls from every nationality, every religion, all over the country, and a wide range of economic backgrounds. I learned about so many new cultures when I joined AGD, and I think I am a better person for it.

Sigma Sigma Sigma- Alpha
My chapter is diverse as well. Not in the way of where we're from or nationalities or anything, but because we all have different personalities and ideas. We don't all look the same either, which I'm sorry to say is common among a few of the sororities here. We also take great pride in our history, because being Alpha really means a lot to us. |
Pi Sigma Epsilon--Gamma Zeta
We are really diverse as well, in many ways--from looks, nationalities, ideas and backgrounds. it's great how we all learn from each other because of this. as a national business fraternity this is real helpful as we are always also brainstorming for ideas for new marketing projects...it's funny, I knock on people's doors in my dorm floor and my neighbors go "oh no it's that PSE again--she's gonna try to sell us something again!" ;D now im sure this goes the same for alot of the other GLOs but our bonds and friendship is so great that our graduates still keep coming back for formals, tailgating, etc! I know I will (although that may take awhile, haha). We can also have fun out of anything--even just table sitting in a building lobby for a bakesale and it's during classhours so it's really boring coz the halls are empty-- even just by talking. we have great parties (no PSE letters allowed though) and all the people that attend, even if they are non-Greek or don't know any of us beforehand, tell us afterwards what a great time they've had. |

Not only do I agree with Tonya and Katey, but I love my chapter because a lot of us are the type of girls who said we would never go greek, but now we LOVE IT! Many of us started out with mostly guy friends, so I think this makes us appriciate the sisterly bond and the sorority. I also love the sorority because our Michigan chapters get along really well! Much love to my Alpha Gams at Alpha Beta and Alpha Pi! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

Gamma Sigma Sigma-Zeta Tau
What a great topic http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif What I like about my chapter is the diversity as well, and the fact that I have 17 great friends http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif that enjoy serving others and having fun! Also we know about hard work and achievement-we were a colony for two years!! We stuck together and worked together so we could be a certified chapter together!! I wouldn't trade my chapter for anything!! In Service, gamma_girl |
Chi Omega - Phi Chapter
Like many of you-- it was the diversity of my chapter that drew me to it. It wasn't a cookie cutter stereotypical sorority, like others at my school were. We had thin and heavy, rich and poor, beautiful and not--but what we all had in common was a love for the ideals set forth by Chi Omega, and an attitude of being fun and mellow and laid back, that made our chapter house a great place to hang out. |
I'm going to tell a story that helps explain why I love my chapter. A couple weeks into new member period, the new members from each sorority split up into small groups and eat dinner at other sorority houses on campus. Sort of a diplomacy thing http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif Well, my group and I had a less than pleasant experience at an unnamed sorority. The girls barely acknowledged out presence, and when we finally started talking to us they were kind of rude. Afterwards we were feeling pretty bummed out. Well, I had forgotten one of my books at the Kappa house so we headed back over there just in time to see the new members from other sororities leave our house. They said the NICEST things about our house! They were all "Wow, those girls were so friendly!" "What a great house!" "They were so genuine!" We all knew how right those girls were. One came up to us and said. "You guys are new Kappas? You're really lucky to be in such an awesome house!" And they were right. I was so happy to be a kappa right then, and I think that expresses how I feel about my chapter every day.

Phi Beta - Phi chapter
This is a great topic, but it's hard to narrow it down to one thing I like the most about my chapter! So my anwer is sort of 2 parts... I'd have to agree that I love the diversity of my chapter. Since we're co-ed, we (obviously) have men & women. We're professional, but the only national professional GLO that unites all of the arts, so we have people from a variety of majors (even some non-art majors like education & environmental science!). For our campus, we had a pretty ethnically diverse group. And there are so many different personalities that make up our chapter! But what I really love is that, even with all of our diversity, everyone gets along so well & always has such a good time. We can be hanging out after a chapter meeting, at a recital, a formal, playing football in Greek Week.. anything, and everyone has a blast! It's like gammazetagirl said... those bonds & our friendships last forever. We make the most of any situation. I have so many good friends from my chapter. And even now that I'm an alumna, I can go back & hang out with the members and still feel that bond with them. It's hard to put what you feel in words, but I think that just about everyone understands that connection to their brothers or sisters. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif I also have to add that I've met several older alumni in the past year or so, and there's still this kind of connection with them. It's funny... I joined for the professional oppurtunities, but I stayed for the friendships & brotherhood. ------------------ SilverTurtle Phi Beta Fraternity: National Professional Association for the Creative & Performing Arts |
What I love most about my chapter - Alpha Chi Chapter, Delta Phi Epsilon - is that every time things seemed really tough and we thought we were in for trouble, we would always work our asses off and do our best to get through a situation. We all worked together and made a bad situation into a really good one. I think it's great that we could all pull together and work so well. You will probably never love all of your sisters, but being able to put that stuff aside and work together for the betterment of the chapter is what it's all about http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

SilverTurtle, my fraternity is also co-ed, but we are a social fraternity - Alpha Psi Lambda, the nation's first co-ed latino/a interest fraternity -whoa what a mouthful
anywhos, what i love about my chapter (Xi)is that the people that are now my brothers and sisters came together as complete strangers to become founders of our chapter. we all come from different nationalities (not all of us are hispanic)and we all have different interests. I also love that as a chapter we not only party but we also do good things for the community. ------------------ "Together We Shall Seek The Noblest" |
