New Recruitment Counselor advice?!

I'm a recruitment counselor (Gamma Chi) at my school this year. I'm so excited about my position and can't wait for recruitment, but I was wondering if any former recruitment counselors (or anyone else!) had advice or would like to share their experiences! I feel like I might not be realizing some of the issues or struggles that might come up in the fall. Thank youuu!

Be Panhellenic. It can be hard to remember when you have a rush crush on a PNM in your group, but your job is not to promote your own sorority, it is to promote the greek system.

Listen to what the PNMs are saying. If a PNM comes to you in disappointment, because her favorite sorority didn't invite her back, listen to her, acknowledge her feelings, and help her to appreciate and to be excited with the sororities she was invited back
to.

Just please please please understand RFM and the MRABA form. I think a lot of girls in your position, with all good intentions give some really bad advice because they don't understand the process and what the contract says. And it IS a legally binding contract, possibly the first contract these girls have ever signed.

We have discussed both things AT LENGTH here so look around and if you then have questions, let us know.

I hope that you will try to help girls who are disappointed in their invitations STAY in the recruitment process.

Try to get them to look at those return invitations with fresh eyes. Help them give the sororities that she might not have been interested in another look. Your encouragement can help them stick with it and not drop out. Make them really think about if being without a sorority at all is really what they want to do.

Don't assume just because girl starts out confident and strong that she will remain that way throughout the week. Some of the girls who start with the most confidence and are certain that they will have a smooth recruitment struggle as the week progresses. Make sure to keep an eye on them as well.
