I saw a notification on twitter that "Malaysian Airlines confirms it lost contact with plane", and I thought - wow, new news in the mystery disappearance. Guess not.

Malaysian Airlines now has the record for the two deadliest plane incidents involving Boeing 777s.

Ummmmm, airplane crashes make my job a huge pain in the arse. And when one airline has two incidents in close succession, then companies start rethinking their "approved to fly" list and all hell breaks loose. Cuz it's not like you can fly Delta from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore. Get it together Malaysia!

Looks like Ukraine is now being accused of shooting down the plane.

And it just so happens it's the 18th anniversary of the TWA 800 crash.

I thought the finger was being pointed at Russian separatists inside Ukraine.

Several sources now confirm the plane was shot down by separatists.
All 295 people on board assumed dead.

At least 173 of those passengers were Dutch, the whole country is in shock.

There is a family who lost family members in the first Malaysian flight and this Malaysian flight. I cannot imagine losing family in 1 flight let alone 2 flights. And the flights are so close together.

They're saying that comparing the lives lost to population of the Dutch it's as great or greater loss than we suffered on 9/11

Between this and the Gaza conflict things are so unsteady right now.

They just upped it to 192 Dutch passengers, among them the top AIDS researchers of the country who were on their way to Australia for a conference.

Ukraine. Gaza. Syria. Mali. Boko Haram. So much sadness and loss everywhere.
