Like A Girl

Just saw this commercial, and I think it's marvelous!

Like A Girl

I really love this commercial. What kills me is the #NotAllMen-style nonsense going on in the youtube comments. "But 'like a boy' is insulting too! Boys have unfair stereotypes that are clearly more important than whatever it is you women are complaining about! What about the way television shows make men look stupid occasionally!"

It's a commercial for a feminine hygiene product. Do they seriously expect Always to make a commercial about boys? Come on.

Adore this commercial.

Ugggggghhhhh.

This is nothing but a transparent attempt by Always to get their name into the news. Their competitors are updating packaging and likely will get a big push in store.

Furthermore, I absolutely abhor being told that I should have felt victimized and upset by something that I didn't give 2 seconds of thought to in the first place.

Yep.

I do really like this commercial but I'm not over-the-moon about it. Probably because I am one of those women who knows that mainstream society usually uses "like a girl" as an insult but I don't personally see it that way. If I were one to be offended by it, I'd probably feel all "I am woman, hear me roar" after seeing it but I'm at more of an, "Aww that's cute" kinda level.

People are inconsistent. Some of these same women pushing this "like a girl" advertising probably believe boys-men must be chivalrous toward girls-women. When I hear girls and women being sexist and patriarchal towards themselves and other girls and women, I am reminded this is systemic and not just about boys and men disregarding girls and women.
