Schools
While you may not want to put your true you on thread, it would be nice if you listed your SCHOOLS!!!!!
This way we can at least have an idea of the area you are from as different parts of the country do things just a little bit different! That is if you are proud enough to say what school you are from! I for one am proud to have come from a state (Kansas) where there are two schools with unique Mascots. Pittsburg State U. Kansas - Gorillas University of Kansas - Jayhawks Let us all see it!!!!!! ------------------ Tom Earp LX Z#1 Pittsburg State U. (Kansas) |
I am from IUP. Indiana University of Pennsylvania. We are not affiliated with the state of Indiana or Indiana University whatsoever, just located in Indiana, PA. We are the largest of the 14 states schools in PA and the fifth largest university in PA. 16 fraternities, 11 sororities, and our mascot is different than our nickname. We are the IUP Indians, but our mascot is Cherokee, a black bear. Just a little info about IUP.

I am a proud alumna of the University of Pittsburgh (Go Panthers!!).
BTW, SigTauJake, whenever I see someone wearing a sweatshirt that says "Indiana" on it, I always assume that it is IUP no matter what part of the country I am in! Guess that comes with growing up in Pittsburgh! ------------------ ~@~Tracy~@~ Proud to be a Delta-Z http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif [This message has been edited by KillarneyRose (edited May 20, 2001).] |

University of Hawaii at Manoa
Honolulu, HI This is where it gets tricky with the mascots: Football, Men's Basketball & Volleyball-Hawaii Warriors All women's sports-Rainbow Wahine Baseball & other men's sports-Rainbow Warriors Since the early 1920s UH was known as the Rainbows, and then here comes June Jones and he decides to change the mascot for the football team and naturally the Hawaiian population protests, calling the mascot "racist and derogatory". Other mens teams followed suit, but many others kept the names they had for years. The rainbow logo is gone...so now we have an "H" with the traditional Polynesian kapa print on all UH paraphenalia. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/mad.gif [This message has been edited by OohTeenyWahine (edited May 20, 2001).] |
