Hey Mathewg is dating different back in Europe?

Hey MaT I was just wondering if relations between the sexes is different back at your home in europe. Dating practices, roles, expectations, complaints, etc.

but not really.... - I mean, obviously I can only speak about Germany, but I think the problems are the same.
There are different habits of courtship behavior though, depending on the country. For example in Italy the guys seem more "aggressive" than in Germany. And apparel seems more important there then in G.
sometimes I have the feeling that guys here have to be a little more "macho" and "cool" than at least in Germany in order to be found attractive by women, but it could be a misconception.
But I guess the differences between guys and girls by and large are just the same from what I learned here.

And unfortunately, the cultural country boundaries are still in place.... I keep trying top understand a wonderful French girl here on campus.... its totally futile....:)

I live in Germany too and I find that it's not that much different. I think that it's more common to go out without a lot of expectations - and it's not a big deal to have a one night stand (not speaking from experience). This is not to say that Europeans are skanks, but rather that there's a more comfortable air to dating than what I know of in the US.

I agree with Matthew that appearance is much more important in the US than here.

Do you find that boys or girls are more secure in Germany?

What is the initial dating pattern like? Ar first dates like: lets go hang out at bar, or more likely to be dinners or such "couple like" activities.

Are women more agrsssive? i.e. More likely to make the first move?

What do you mean by secure? more self esteem? I wouldn't say so. Secure when going out at night, yes. I remember an American friend of mine who was from Texas and was in Germany over the summer. She loved it to be able to walk home in the middle of the night.... Of course there are unfortunately always exceptions to the rule.

Initial dating pattern - i'd say more like hanging out at a bar or go dancing in a club. later movies and a dinner night is very last. It is very common that both parties on the first dates pay their own bill.

Good question, I guess it depends. I heard it's different in the UK though, there women are making their moves. But don't take my word for it, it's a lot of hearsay

Helsinki was an experience . . . having dark hair, eyes, and intense tan were definitely assets . . . girls would followed us around because of the novelty . . . very nice . . .

I wouldn't mind going back there or Sweden for a longer time of "rest and relaxation" ;)
