Rotator Cuff Injury--OUCH

Anyone out there in GC land ever have this?

My shoulder has been in A LOT of pain for weeks. I went to the Orthopedic doc today. I have rotator cuff injury.

IT HURTS ALL THE TIME. Well, I will be on phys therapy and anti-inflammatories for awhile---

but if you've had this--how long till you started feeling better?

Sorry to say there is no quick recovery for this one in the least bit, it actually takes quite awhile, and depending on what you do in your daily schedule, it can also get worse. It took mine over a yr or so to heal, or heal properly. But after a good amount of Physical therapy, it will at least feel better, and won't bother you for awhile.
At nite I used to put a good amount of ice on mine, and that kills the pain for a good deal of time, or um until morning
I hope this helped and Good Luck and Feel Better

My boyfriend had this injury about 2 years ago, and it still bugs him. It great that you're following the doctors advice and getting physical therapy, etc. I'm surprised he didn't give you something stronger for the pain at night though. But not enough to get you hooked or something - it's just that it's so painful. My advice is that it gets worse before it gets better, and that ice is really important - and keep a good level of antiinflammatories in your system. I'm so sorry you have to deal with this...I remember him being in a lot of sustained pain...when he gets home, I'll ask if there's anything specific to share with you. Good luck Amy!

Unfortunately it took my mother 2 years before she was pain free. Much physical therapy and she also saw the chiropractor. She almost had to have surgery. I hope you feel better soon.

Just be careful, take it easy and it will be normal in 6 months or so.

thanks everyone.

I have been seeing the chiropractor 3x a week for 6 months, as well as training with a trainer 3X a week for 6 months --unfortunately, while my back and neck feel GREAT and my muscles are strong-- it hasn't helped my shoulder at all -- which is what finally prompted me to make the appointment with the Sports MD/Orthopedic.

I started the anti-inflammatories last night-- and wow I am feeling like a rubber chicken today-- is that normal? I just want to lay down and go to sleep....

Depends on what kind of anti inflammatories you are on.

OH, Had arm in sling for 8 weeks and slept in the recliner for as long! Drove me NUTTYIER! Drive a stick shift! For you that do not know what that that is, you shift with your right hand and clutch with your left foot!:D

well, had my followup visit with orthopedic surgeon--- shoulder looks better than it did 4 weeks ago, but MUCH more PT in store for me on that. But tendinitis in elbow BAD... MRI for me...

And Celebrex--BLECK.

But Vioxx-- Oh yeah baby, good stuff, LOL

And ice packs have become my best friend.

Thanks everyone!

I drive a stick shift too Tom-- on days when my shoulder realllly hurts-- OUCH, damn its a pain in the butt!

And tendinitis in opposite elbow doesn't help either...!

Basically, my 33rd bday approaches and I appear to be falling apart! ha ha ha

I've never had this, but I hope you get better!!! :)

I thought if you had a rotator cuff injury that stick shift is a no no-good excuse for a new car

is Vioxx another cox2 inhibitor just like Celebrex is?
