I know this is going to be some mess but...
I cannot resist asking why the Founder's Day of Delta Sigma Theta is Jan 14th and Zeta Phi Beta Jan 16th. I know Zeta is probably because Delta beat them to the 14th but I think that this was intentionally malicious towards a certain org founded on Jan 15th.
I know you may erase this but that will just reinterate my theory. |

Theoretically, IMO, having a founding date is parallel to a woman's due date and giving birth most times in the area of the date that the doctor gives her. Just like the woman/doctor had no control in when the baby is born, our founders were not IMO "MALICIOUS" with the founding dates. I mean COME ON! 5 of the 9 organizations are founded in January but I am sure nary a one of them were trying to "take someone else's date". Once again, LMAO. **I split this thread because I thought it was in poor taste to go in our HAPPY FOUNDER'S DAY THREAD. If anyone else cares to address this question, feel free. FOUNDING DATES for Divine Nine Orgs in FOUNDING ORDER: December 4, 1906 January 15, 1908 January 5, 1911 November 17, 1911 January 13, 1913 January 9, 1914 January 16, 1920 November 12, 1922 September 19, 1963 |

Interesting Thread I will say that much. Definitely not anything malicious about the founding dates of the organizations of the Divine Nine..coincidence maybe but definitely not maliciousness.
|
And this is why I asked...I felt that some people would be touchy about this question but if it is such coincidence then why all the hoopla. Malicious may have been a strong word to use but I certainly don't see why the date just HAD to be before Jan. 15th. The fact that it was three different years does'nt make a point in my opinion.
The orgs on my campus have made a point of celebrating Founder's Day and I felt this question was a relevant one for such reason. It was brought to my attention in a private message that organizations have deadline dates o submit certain information. I was aware of this but was not aware that this was standard during the time of the creation of the Divine Nine orgs in the early 1900s. As far as everyone getting their feathers all ruffled, well that just goes to show it may be more to it than you are willing to admit. |

First of all EVERY ORGANIZATION celebrates their FOUNDERS DAY so what was your point?!?! This does not happen on just your campus but campuses and chapters (collegiate and alumnae) world wide. Second of all the "HOOPLA" that you are referring to is really not all of that. The first few responses helped you correctly identify the dates of the organizations you are accusing of "maliciously" making their FOUNDERS DAY close to the AKAs Founders Day. Now in the interest of maintaining PEACE on this board, if you have further questions about the "maliciousness of founding dates",  please ask someone on your campus. You know FACE 2 FACE. As far as applications being given deadlines, that happens all the time. For example, you applied to college right?!!? Or you file taxes every year?!?! Now I don't know about you, but I had "DEADLINES" to submit my applications and my taxes. That being said, once I turned the applications in and filed my taxes, I had to wait for the corresponding colleges and IRS to respond. THE RESPONSE, APPROVAL, ACCEPTANCE, REFUND happened on the RESPECTIVE OFFICES' own timeline. Hence, drawing a parallel here since I was not around in 1908, 1913 or 1920, I am postulating that once the respective FOUNDERS of aforementioned organizations filed their paperwork, they had to WAIT FOR APPROVAL and once APPROVAL was given, that date (OUT OF THEIR HANDS) was henceforth and FOREVER MORE their FOUNDING DATE. **special note, my caps are emphasis** |

Endroad, what EXACTLY is your theory and why is it irrelevant that the 3 orgainzations in question were founded in different years? |
Hello Sisters,
It's been a while since I posted over here. How yall doing? Since winter weather has finally kicked in and I am "snow-bored" I thought I would say hello and also say, "the date in January? what difference does it make? " I just think it wonderful that it happened when it did, whether its 1908, 1913, or 1920. CrimsonTide I am appreciating your responses. I must also say that I am glad that my Sorority's month is November.:p |

Endroad, I think you are trying to say that because the other groups were founded on days that happen to be before the 15th that they were trying to "one up" another organization. Hello, come on now..................... everyone knows that January 15th, 1908 came before January 13th, 1913. There can be no mistaking what came first so I don't see how you could say that the founding dates were done in a malicious fashion. Get a grip! |
